Sibelco lends support to cycling classic
March 2008
The 2008 Dartmoor Classic, organised by the Mid-Devon Cycling Club, has received a boost in the form of sponsorship from Sibelco UK. The event, which last year attracted a capacity field of 1200 riders, will take place on Sunday 11th May, starting at Abbrook Park in Newton Abbot before traversing the rugged beauty of Dartmoor via two new routes of 100 miles and 100 kilometres.
Sibelco have joined Devon County Council, Torbay Council and TravelWise in supporting this year’s Classic which will help support a number of local charities including local junior cycling club the Abbrook Aces, the Dave Rayner Fund and Devon Air Ambulance.
“We’ve been working closely with Mid-Devon Cycling Club for a number of years as we have with many sports clubs in the area,” explained Sibelco’s UK Resources Director, Gary Stringer. “Last year’s inaugural Classic was nationally acclaimed for its outstanding organisation and challenging nature. I hope that our support can help make this year’s event an even greater success and put the Dartmoor Classic firmly on the map as one of the UK’s best sportives.”
